Semana del Tren
On October 28, 1848, a train ran for the first time on the Iberian Peninsula; an initial 29-kilometer line between Barcelona and Mataró which, 178 years later, has given way to a network of more than 15,000 kilometers.
And how many things have changed since then thanks to the train. Territorial cohesion, progress, economic growth, sustainability, and innovation have always gone hand in hand with railway advancements, which have furthermore been synonymous with modernity since their inception.
The railway deserves to be celebrated, and that is the proposal of the Spanish Railway Foundation (Fundación de los Ferrocarriles Españoles): a week of train-related activities designed to connect the entire railway ecosystem with the public.
